London War Resister Support Group

Well, it's been quite some time since I've posted a blog entry. I blame life, really. I've been very focused on school lately, so I haven't been updating like I said I would. I would like to apologize to (if I have any) readers of this blog. A lot has happened since I last posted, so I'll just give a few thoughts and promise to do MUCH better from now on!

First and foremost, our founder and really one of the biggest driving force behind our group, Beth, is retiring. Her zeal and unwaivering support of our cause has been an inspiration to me, and to all the resisters here in London. I will never forget that the first time I ever spoke to her, despite being in email contact for about a month, was actually on the air, over the radio on Ontario Today! I totally botched that interview, but Beth was right on the money. Since then, she has worked so hard to allow resisters to stay in Canada, and I sincerely hope that we can help realize her dream, as is our collective dream, of making Canada a shelter against militarism. Beth, if you're reading this, if I were still military minded, I'd salute you.

Secondly, there's a new president in the States. I voted for him...but mostly because he scared me less than McCain. So...yeah, we'll wait and see.I'm not holding my breath on the whole resisters thing.

We also have a 'new government' since I last posted. Minister Kenny is the new immigration minister. My friend Josh Randall had a few choice words for him, and I share the sentiment. It takes incredible courage (or thickheadedness) to go in front of cameras and in front of an audience and lie your ass off the way Minister Kenny did. Well, even if he didn't lie about not having the power to help war resisters, he still interfered with the legal process. This, in my book, makes him incompetant at best, and a liar at worst. Minister Kenny, if you're reading this, if I were still military minded, I'd salute you too. Just not with all fingers.

Okay, I've got to get some sleep. COME TO THE CONCERT ON APRIL 18TH!!!!
