I just finished watching fight club and that movie always seems to inspire the anarchist side of me a lot of times. But, that is another blog for another day. I was looking at CBC news' website(I know there was my first mistake), and I was nothing but infuriated at the fact that yet again their main story was of a plane that crashed in buffalo NY. The story has been in the news for three days now and only 50 people Died. My condolences to the families that lost people on that flight, but come on how many times can they continue to do this. Post the same story repeatedly of something that is of minor signifigance in the world scheme of things and ignore all the worlds major problems and accomplishments for that matter. I posted a comment on CBC on the plane article ranting about exactly that(incredulous, repetitive reporting). Of course, not to my surprise the comment never quite seemed to make it up on the comments list. It did not because of what they deem to be obscene language, but because I was challenging their own reporting styles or the status quo for that matter. CBC tends to edit a big portion of my comments off of there website. It is really quite infuriating when an organization/company thats entire business is based of the idea of free speech and free press edits any ones comments, much less one that is hardly obscene in nature. But that is what happens I guess when you try to break people's little bubble of the world, they retract in to there little hidee holes and say "no no not me,I like my bubble the way it is." "Not a bubble at all, just more like an opaque sphere than a translucent bubble."
This is why people should try to stay from the mainstream media sources there to corporatized and controlled. You can't honestly think that a media company that gets subsidies and tax breaks from the government is going to challenge the status quo. Umm no ,you don't bite the hand that feeds you. This is why twitter, blogs and of course indy media's are the best things around, and thanks to the easy accessibility to the Internet these sources can become more reliable and easier to access. So I challenge everyone to add at least one indy media website to the favorites list, and everytime you check CBC or you other favorite media site check the most likely dissenting opinion on the indy Media site and make your own opinion of the story that is presented by each site . My assumption is that your opinion will be most likely the antithesis to the mainstream media opinion. ,Josh
