Let Them Stay Week: resisters.ca Calling supporters in London and area to call or write for war resisters.
It is 7 years ago this month that Jeremy Hinzman, the first American conscientious objector to the Iraq War arrived in Canada. He, and most of the others who followed him, are still making their way through the court system trying to get permission to stay here. While 2 war resisters in London now have status in Canada, one a citizen, and the other a Permanent Resident, there are many more in Ontario and Canada who need you to help them. Please contact Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, requesting that they be allowed to stay. Contact info is below this message. You may wish to make the following points:
* The overwhelming majority of Canadians oppose the Iraq War and two-thirds support US Iraq War resisters.
* The Iraq War Logs released by Wikileaks show that war resisters were right to say no.
* The US military’s own estimates, the Iraq War has killed more than 100,000 people, two-thirds of them civilians. Many were victims of massacres and torture.
* Canada's Parliament has voted twice to stop deporting Iraq War resisters and to let them stay
